Elections in 2024
UN General Assembly Elections
The 78th session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled to hold elections on 6 June. The Security Council, which is responsible for maintaining international peace and security, will elect five non-permanent members for two-year terms beginning on 1 January 2024. The five countries that will be elected are:
- Denmark
- Greece
- Pakistan
- Panama
- Somalia
These five countries will join the five non-permanent members that were elected in 2022: Ecuador, Japan, Malta, Mozambique, and Switzerland.
